We ran JP Morgan Run Chase of 5.6 km distance. Luckily we were able to finish the run (within 50 mins :)). After that was the good discussion (Active Listening mode?) with my mentor/motivator MN. This article is just documentation of his thoughts, as I really liked those and don't want to miss.
We were discussing "N" number of things and the topics varied from E-mail communication to coding to integrity to whole person as package to GOD is Nothing to Nothing is GOD :) with the company of one Barron & Kopi C.
One famous quote was told by him. Though i could not understood it first time, understood with his explanation.
"Life is Hell, when you redefine something!" - Just think of the opposite to this quote.
"Life is Heaven, when you define!" - Innovations/Inventions
Few good points that came when i was listening:
1. Email is very important.
It should be precise, clear cut.
Check the entire email in WORD for segments that needs to be revised.
Punctuation is very essential one.
Write the mails Professionally, though you know the person personally.
Check the format of the mail, bold, high lighted text etc. Pay attention to every mail as if the mail will be sent to the highest person in this world!
2. You are valued as entire package. Make sure that entire package is working fine. No body wants the bits and pieces to work fine, its entirety that makes the difference. Your Integrity, commitment, knowledge etc. all of these matters the most. So you have to be the Whole.
3. Another one came up: DJR's English learning in his 9th annual leave. Though DJR scored 100% in maths and physics, one of his school mate spit on his face, for his poor English. He started watching 4 English movies with sub titles, per day, taking notes, assuming himself as the actor, comparing his dialogue with the actors dialogue etc. He completed 4 note books for taking notes. He wrote an article in English and reviewed for couple of days, multiple times and showed to his father. His father spit on him as the article did not have punctuation or less use of punctuation. He again put effort to correct punctuation. After 35 days of great effort, he went to school, first day in his 10th standard. The first class got over and it had good amount of discussion. DJR was able to answer in English nicely. After the class got over, DJR was called by the Teacher and asked "Is your parent is British or American?". He was speaking English with such a great proficiency. The most happiest moment in DJR's life.
4. Another one was handling of critical issue in office by DJR. The email was one of the wonderful email. Very crisp and compact. Just 10 lines. But it addressed the issue/root cause/why/where etc... clear concise. wonderful mail. I read that mail. I don't know how i could have composed in that pressure scenario. But one of the ultimate mail. Need to really improve the email communication.
5. BILL GATE's use of his wealth to eradicate Polio from the universe. What a greatest thing!!!
6. DJR gave money to his father for running his own business. His father failed for couple of times for different reasons. But at last he became "Entrepreneur of the year" and gifted DJR with a Condominium house. What a greatest fulfillment for being a father and being a son!
7. Common Denominator: This is one of the important thing, at least for me. In every place, there is some protocol. Let us take temples, we assume that, every body who comes in, should be clean. Same way in IT office, everyone should have some proper dress code, which may not be defined in the code of the company but there is some common denominator in every work location. It may vary from company to company, country to country. Wherever we are, we should follow the common denominator, which exists there. Otherwise we may create wrong impression, when someone first see us, which is not good for the company. At the end, we are representing the company. So we create wrong image for the company as a whole. So try to follow/adapt to the common denominator. If it's such a non-sense thing, which you could not adjust, then it's not the place for you. It would be better to remove yourself from the place.
So many more things came. But overall, the highlight:
"Life is Hell, when you redefine something!"
"Life is Heaven, when you define something!"
Happy Thinking...
